Shu Zhong

I am a Data Scientist at Microsoft UK, working on applied AI. I’m interested in AI for social good, modalities beyond vision and sound, and domain-specific Human-Centred AI — bringing domain expertise into natural Human-AI interaction. I code 👩🏻‍💻 and build prototypes.

I recently completed my PhD at UCL Computer Science and Interaction Centre (UCLIC) (Dr. soon 🎓), with my thesis Perceptual Alignment in Human-Centred AI, supervised by Marianna Obrist, Elia Gatti and Youngjun Cho, as part of the UKRI Textile Circularity project. During my PhD I also interned as a Data Scientist @Microsoft and as an AI research engineer @Autodesk Research.

Before my PhD, I worked in the aerospace industry✈️, where I designed and supervised the production of air turbine fan boosters and compressors—literally 🛫, not just a desk job!

Outside of work, I love food 🥘 and play Hearthstone Battlegrounds.
